Just a quick note to warn you that the second link on the post is broken. It misses an 'e'.

I put the large discrepancies down to the charts only starting from February 13th 2005 - that's potentially a lot of data missing for anybody who joined before. For a while Last.fm would give the data out and set the date it was scrobbled to February 13th but it silently changed to exclude it again at some point about a year ago. I haven't had much luck with getting information on this stuff from the forums so haven't really chased it up.

Pulling data in is a lot more robust than it was a while ago but there's still occasional weirdness. I'll keep an eye on your data as I develop.

Thanks for the feedback :-)

Hey Sam,

Avid user of Last.fm and your scrobbler utilities here. I think they're cracking and love the new features.

I have a slight question about the data being gathered. Charts produced by your new scrobbler, for me, don't seem to be matching up with those on Last.fm. For example, if I want to display my most played artists overall, your scrobbler often shows considerably lower playcounts and even out of order rankings when compared to the same chart on Last.fm. I don't think it's because the data only gets released by Last.fm on Sundays that's causing the discrepancy as the playcounts aren't just a few behind but hundreds. I've also noticed that it does the same with your account when I try it with that.

Am I doing something wrong?

Hiho! really like this, unfortunately, the program missed a couple of weeks while importing... noticed that because the nov29-dec05 week of 2010 is missing, which is the one where I've listened to the most tracks, but that one isn't the only one (lastfm username m2wester )

I took Last.fm's username requirements as correct.. if you sign up now you're told

"Your username should be between 2 and 15 characters, begin with a letter and contain only letters, numbers, '_' or '-'."

It should work now.

Here's a fan of your websites hoping the album/track charts will also be available soon again ... The new thing is great, but adding those again would make it epic =D
